Things To Do

Linville is nestled in the Pisgah National Forest, so there are unlimited outdoor activities available. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just minutes from Linville, as are countless trails for hiking, waterfalls for swimming, and streams for fishing. If shopping is more your thing, there are many stores and art galleries to peruse especially in Banner Elk or Blowing Rock. Dining and drinking options are fairly extensive as well! Here are a few of our favorites.

Old Hampton Store & Barbeque

77 Ruffin Street, Linville, NC 28646

Casual BBQ with live bluegrass music and small general store.

The Fountain at the Alan Dickson Center Pool

35 Dogwood Street, Linville, NC 28646

Enjoy the beautiful August weather by the pool or have a casual lunch across the street from The Lodge. Credit cards are accepted and there is parking nearby.

Blind Elk Tap Room

397 Shawneehaw Avenue South, Banner Elk, NC 28604

The Pedalin' Pig

4235 North Carolina 105, Banner Elk, NC 28604

One of our favorites!

Grandfather Mountain State Park

Banner Elk, NC 28604

Home of the famous swinging bridge and nature museum.

The Speckled Trout Restaurant and Bottle Shop

922 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC 28605

Another favorite of ours! This is in Blowing Rock and a bit of a drive, but it is a great spot for lunch.

Italian Pizza & Pasta Restaurant

2855 Linville Falls Highway, Pineola, NC 28662

Classic pasta / pizza restaurant- no reservations necessary.

Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster

3265 Tynecastle Highway, Banner Elk, NC 28604

Erica has been dying to do this- if anyone does this update her on how it was!

Tartan Restaurant

31 Coffey Road, Linville, NC 28646
For all the days along the way
