In 2016, Beth Rose and Matthew met at Lower Dauphin High School during the fall play. Continuing in theatre, they became friends during the spring musical. In April 2017, unexpected chemistry sparked at a party, leading to Matthew finding excuses to text Beth Rose all summer (she didn’t always reply). At another party in the fall of 2017 (they were so popular), they decided to take it to the next level: Snapchat. After a few weeks of awkwardly flirting, Beth Rose asked Matthew to homecoming. Matthew asked Beth Rose in the middle of the Lower Dauphin High School gymnasium, "will you go out with me?" (LOL). That was the first official date. Two weeks later, she broke things off during The Sound of Music callbacks, but they reconciled secretly on Black Friday. We don't know why they did that. When they told everyone they had secretly started dating again, no one cared. Despite the “cougar” dynamic (Beth Rose graduated while Matthew was a sophomore), they made it work by meeting up in between classes, grabbing lunch, and hanging out on weekends. Then--you're not going to believe this--a global pandemic broke out, separating them for three months. And somehow, they stuck it out. Due to COVID restrictions, Matthew started college online at American University while Beth Rose continued her studies as well. Eventually, Matthew moved to DC to be on campus. For the first time, they were more than 30 minutes apart, yet they stayed strong—visiting each other between DC and Virginia, discovering their favorite restaurant, Cooper’s Hawk (❤️). Beth Rose chose Shenandoah University for grad school, conveniently an hour from Matthew, and they spent weekends driving to each other. Once Matthew graduated in 2023 and moved to Hershey for work, Beth Rose joined him shortly after. In a “surprise” proposal at a Virginia winery (which Beth Rose totally saw coming), Matthew popped the question. She said yes, and they celebrated at Cooper’s Hawk (❤️) with family. This brings them to 7 1/2 years together (8 in October 2025!). In the present, they’re happily procrastinating wedding planning and can’t wait to celebrate with loved ones in April 2026!
