Kirby and Andrew’s story began in 2017 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California, though Andrew would tell you it started long before they ever spoke. Andrew first noticed Kirby at the gym and around campus. Every time she walked in he would feel an inexplicable pull toward her, like something important was drawing them together. He found himself always hoping for a moment to get closer to her. That moment arrived the summer before senior year, when Andrew’s roommates hosted a party at their house. Normally, Andrew would have made himself scarce, but he stayed because he knew Kirby had been invited. Kirby had not planned to attend, but after a shift at Bandits Grill and Bar, she decided at the last minute to stop by, unaware it was Andrew’s house. When Kirby walked through the door, Andrew made it his mission to spend the night talking to her, making her laugh, charming her with his humor, and giving her his full attention. After feeling their undeniable chemistry, the moment finally arrived when Andrew said, “I want to kiss you.” Kirby smiled and replied, “So do it.” That kiss was the beginning of everything. From then on, they were inseparable, choosing each other deliberately and building a relationship based in love, teamwork, and loyalty. After nine months of dating, they moved in together with roommates and spent two years learning how to share their lives with one another. In 2020, their relationship remained strong when Kirby moved to Pittsburgh for graduate school, while Andrew stayed in California, working at BMW. In 2021, Andrew moved to join Kirby in Pittsburgh. Here they truly began their lives together, leaning on each other for support through all the highs and lows they faced, always side by side, choosing each other, and moving forward together. In November 2024, Andrew proposed on Mount Washington overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline, the city that had become a symbol of their shared life. They were legally married in March 2025, with Andrew’s brother Fernando and Kirby’s sister Danielle standing beside them as witnesses. Now, Kirby and Andrew are beyond excited to celebrate their love with their closest friends and family in March 2026, on their one-year anniversary.
