Information About Being at Altitude
Snow Mountain Ranch is at ~8,000 feet elevation. On the drive to Granby, you will reach as high as 11,000 feet when you drive over Berthoud Pass. Altitude sickness of varying severity is not uncommon. Common symptoms include: pounding headache, fatigue, nausea, difficulty catching your breath, unnaturally high heart rate, and dizziness. Sometimes altitude sickness is unpreventable, but these are a number of things you can do to set yourself up for success or limit any negative side affects: 1. Drink a lot of water. Try to drink more than you think you may need, and you will not regret it. 2. Give your body time to adjust. If you have just arrived, try to keep your activity level low to moderate. If you are able to stay in Denver or Golden for a day or two before, we highly recommend it! 3. If you are feeling unwell, make sure you rest, drink plenty of water, and use oxygen canisters if you need. Many stores in the area sell them, and we will plan to have some onsite for anyone who wants it. In addition, for those not familiar with mountain driving, please drive safe on mountain roads. The route to Granby is all major roadways, but still requires full attention due to curves and grade, especially on Berthoud Pass.

Denver airport is a hub for United, Southwest, and Frontier so we suggest checking those airlines first for the best prices, routes, and availability. You can also take the A Line train from the Airport to Union Station in Downtown Denver.

Train
Amtrak
As an alternate option, you can take the Amtrak train from Union Station in Denver, to downtown Granby - this train departs once a day at 8am. It is said to be a very scenic train ride. BUT there are no taxis/ubers in Granby, so you must arrange for a wedding friend to pick you up downtown, or rent a car in Granby from Avalanche Car Rentals (https://www.avscars.com/).
