Our story starts off just like most modern day romances, on a dating app. We had matched with each other multiple times and figured we might as well setup a date and actually meet, in which we both impulsively chose right away that same day. We met up at Deeper Roots in Oakley where Alex told Matt they had the BEST nitro brew coffee (great coffee is a passion of both of ours). When we met Alex was panicked because Matt was acting nervous, so she immediately thought he wasn’t into her and only to realize later that he was actually just really attracted to her. We spent the first three hours of our date laying in the grass at Oakley square drinking our coffees and talking about everything under the sun. Matt shared some music with Alex and we got on the topic of movies where we both discovered our love for horror films. Eventually our date ended after 6 hours of coffee, Chipotle, and Rosemary’s Baby. After that first date, we continued to pursue each other everyday.
We have tried to keep it a secret, but since we returned from Italy the summer of 2021 we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and have been designing a ring together. It wasn't until November 8, 2021 when Matt's plans came together. On that day Matt mentioned to Alex that he would like to spend the evening together. He mentioned going to dinner at Agave & Rye to which Alex responded, "Do we have to go to Agave?" which Matt promptly responded "Yes". Alex knew something was up. Once we got to Covington and parked we started walking in the opposite direction of Agave and Alex stated the obvious, "We're going the wrong way". Which Matt responded, "We're not going to Agave & Rye". At that moment Alex knew he was going to propose. Matt led Alex to the Madison Theater. Once we arrived Matt looked at Alex and said, "I always knew that big things were going to happen in my life here, I just didn't know that it was going to be you." He then proposed. We were very lucky to have Matt's friends hiding behind the scenes capturing the moments of the engagement. Afterwards, Matt mentioned that he initial plan was to propose where we had our first date, Oakley Square. He had tried to contact 20th Century Theatre for weeks to try to rent their sign without any luck, so this was his backup option. Knowing that original intent is what made it so special to Alex; that our lives both changed at that same moment on our first date.
