Well this should be one for the books. While I was deployed to Okinawa, Japan, I decided to try out online dating again. It had been some time after a particularly bad break up but I had high hopes for trying again. Reopening the app, I noticed that I was still matched with a woman named Heidi. I reread the conversations, which at that time, never really sparked up into anything serious so thought nothing of it but keep the messages anyway. A few months later on Facebook, I posted a photo with the caption "like this if you'd date me", hoping to get a good laugh and make some connections. Heidi liked said photo, and I recognized her from my online dating app. What are the chances? I started the conversation, of course, and the rest is sweet memories of laughter and the many adventures we had. I was still deployed at this point, but although I was halfway around the world, we made the distance work and scheduled Facetime and Skype calls. Shoot! She even met my parents before I could introduce her! And I was pleasantly surprised when I came home from deployment. She's always been one step ahead. Love you babe! -Josh
