We Do!

In 2016 I (Mikia) started as a cook at Headwaters Grill & Bar and that was when I first met Michael. We had a strictly professional coworker relationship. In 2019 that would start change . Michael and I became closer through work. I enjoyed Michael’s unfiltered jokes and overall sense of humor . He always had a way of making me laugh and eventually I developed a little crush on the handsome and athletic Michael Schake. I started going to his baseball games in Rosen to see him in his element. Afterwards we usually always hung out and that was our routine for a little bit . We often hung out after work as well talking in the car and listening to music. Michael and I definitely knew we wanted to be more than friends but didn’t officially begin dating until October 14th 2021. We continued to enjoy going to games , going out to eat , shopping sprees , and playing darts for Headwaters but not on the same team . Michael met my mother in December of 2021. He got along with my siblings and family very well. My mom showed him her game collection and that was the end of that. We also went shopping with my mother too. She would say herself “He fits right in with the family”. We grew closer the next year when Michael had to have knee surgery. I made sure I was there by his side through the highs and lows of not being able to play baseball that year. While it wasn’t a breeze it definitely made us stronger as a unit. Michael eventually moved in with me and not too long after we became pregnant in October 2022! We kept it a secret for the most part until December that year. On July 10th 2023 , we welcomed our first son together, Milo Douglas Schake. On October 14th 2023 , Michael took me ring shopping !!!! I tried on different rings and chose the one I wanted. I truly appreciated that he wanted me to pick my own ring out. It wasn’t until Thanksgiving of 2023 when he officially got down on one knee and popped the question. “Mikia, will you be my wife?” and of course I said “YES!” And this is just the beginning of our crazy wild and beautiful love story.
