We're getting married!

Their story began after Jake tirelessly pestered their mutual friend, Katie, for Jamie’s phone number. Jake had seen Jamie at BBQs and gatherings for a couple of years, yet their paths never fully crossed. Once they had the opportunity to make conversation, they had undeniable similarities and chemistry. Once Jake finally obtained the highly sought after digits, he asked her out. Jamie was excited to accept and they planned their first date. On a cloudy afternoon in April of 2021, Jake met Jamie on her street for a walk in NW Portland. They exchanged flirty banter and stopped at Bantam Tavern to calm their nerves over a couple of Whiskey Sours. Conversation was easy and engaging. Both of them (secretly) could not wait for a second date. They spent the early summer months getting to know each other more intensely over dinner, wine tasting, summer walks, and attending events together. They realized they were aligned on the important stuff and had a deep appreciation for each other. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, Jake and Jamie floated and flirted their way through Portland restaurants and bars on an impromptu tour. Jake joked with Jamie that he had done all of the pursuing up till this point, so if she wanted to take things to the next level, it was up to her. She then asked Jake to go steady; he excitedly accepted. Jamie invited Jake to run Hood to Coast with her group, even though they are both allergic to distance running. They thought it would be a funny experience at the least. On August 9th, after a 6 mile, 100 degree training session, Jamie became ill. Jake insisted on bringing some soup to her apartment (even though she was mortified at her appearance). As she sipped the soup, he blurted out “I love you.” In shock, she smiled and confidently said: “I love you too, I have for awhile.” As the months went by, Jake and Jamie began to include each other in all of life’s important days. As they depended on each other more, it became clear they wanted the same things; and more importantly, the two wanted to spend the rest of their days together. Jake nervously began ring shopping in late 2022. He went back and forth on the ring and leaned on Lexi, Jamie’s best friend since middle school, to finalize the proposal details. After celebrating Thanksgiving with Jamie’s sister, Heather, and her family, Jake expressed his love for the family and Jamie and asked for her hand in marriage over dinner. Jamie was completely surprised and without hesitation, said yes, accepted the ring, and gave him a huge embrace. *** We are so excited to say “I do” and we didn’t want to wait another minute. We are so thankful for all of the friends and family that have made us who we are and brought us to each other.
