Chase was on the baseball team at UNLV and Scarlet was on the pom team at UNLV. They had mutual friends and knew about each other through them. One day when Chase was traveling for baseball his friend who was watching his dog, Khaleesi, had to quickly leave. Chase asked Scarlet and her best friend Bailey if they would go over and watch her for the day. Scarlet and Bailey went over and spent the day watching Khaleesi for Chase. When Chase came back from his trip Chase invited Scarlet and Bailey over to hangout as a thank you for watching Khaleesi so last minute. The rest was history.

Chase and Scarlet decided to drive to San Diego to spend New Year's with Chase's sister Paige and some of her friends. On New Year's Day Paige told Scarlet that everyone was going to get dressed up and walk down to Sunset Cliffs to take some pictures together. Scarlet did not think anything of this because she thought Paige just wanted to get pictures with all her friends while they were all together since they live in different places. Everyone got ready and then walked down to the cliffs to take pictures. All the girls began taking pictures and then all the couples took pictures. Scarlet and Chase began to take pictures and when she thought they were done Scarlet began to walk away. Chase quickly pulled her back as he got down on one knee and proposed.
