How We Met

TGFH (Thank God for Hinge)

For many, seven minutes apart does not seem like a long time, but to some, it can require a dating app to cut out the distance. The story of Stacy and Brandon begins online when the two only lived seven minutes away from one another for all their lives. Matching on Hinge in December of 2019, Stacy only wanted to meet Brandon’s dog, having liked his prompt that they cannot date if she “does not like big dogs.” Of course, Stacy did in fact like Brandon for more than his Great Dane, but he will never let her forget why they matched in the first place. After a month of talking online, they went on their first date where Stacy was too nervous to admit to her parents she was going out with a boy. She came up with the world's most brilliant lie! Her 5 foot tall friend, Danielle, was coming to pick her up and the two were going out with some other friends. Then, Brandon just had to come in his pick up truck, soiling the lie completely. When Stacy arrived home, her father asked her “How does Danielle drive a pick up truck?” Of course, the world is quite small. Not only did Brandon and Stacy live so close to one another without knowing, but on their first date, their bartender was a girl Brandon went to elementary school with. Wanting to be a proper gentleman, Brandon was going to pay for the evenings expenses, except when it came time to pay, their tab had been covered by the friendly bartender. Brandon was mortified. After a few months of dating, the two made it official towards the end of February 2020. Just a few short days later, Covid hit, forcing the two together in unexpected ways. They had only recently begun dating, but because of the pandemic their only options for dates were at home since many public places were shutting down. Although Covid was a difficult time, it ultimately gave them a push in the direction of their future while they spent a significant amount of time together. Brandon and Stacy were together every day, continuing to get to know each other, but also, getting to know one another’s families. It wasn't long before they knew, this would be a forever thing. They turned a difficult situation into a beautiful one.
