How We Met

Swiping Right

After a long fun day of skiing in Lake Tahoe, Josh was headed home down I-5 back to Salinas. It had already been a great weekend, but it was about to get a lot better. Usually Josh was the driver but that day his brother had agreed to drive them home. Little did his brother know, Josh was about to make his final right swipe. Natalie’s feeling was mutual and the beauty of Bumble was that she would have to make the first move if she wanted to entertain the fellow who had good taste. Luckily for all us, she reached out and began her courting process. It took weeks for them to finally agree to meet. Being in construction, Josh was on the road at least once a week and could make his schedule work to get to Modesto for a date with his future wife. In all honesty, it wasn’t the best first date. Not because of the company, but let's just say- never order the shrimp scampi from BJs Brewhouse. The conversation was good and after dinner neither one of them wanted to go back home to their parents' house so they took a drive around the lovely town of Modesto looking for something to do. Now Josh isn’t much of a reader but Natalie, being the great teacher she is no matter the age group, took him to Barns and Nobles for a nice bedtime story before she sent him on his way home late on a Wednesday evening. After this, Josh knew she was all he ever wanted. She was so sweet , soft, and caring- it only took a few more weeks before Natalie was coming over to meet his parents (not by choice- he lived with them so what you gonna do). After Natalie met the Vultaggio family and wasn’t scared off, Josh was even more sure she was the one. The pair continued dating until on exciting September day a few years later and the rest is history!

Proposal Story

After dating, traveling, and exploring together for over 3 years Josh decided the time was now to officially make Natalie was his wife. After getting the ring and asking permission from the Sordello's, all that was left to do was plan the surprise. Unfortunately, Josh isn't great with surprises and Natalie is constantly on her toes, so the surprise aspect would be challenging. The plan was a Lake Tahoe proposal but with the start of the Caldor Fire plans had to be changed. Lucky for them, they live in a very beautiful and romantic place. Natalie had a soft spot for Point Lobos so it was an easy change to make- or so Josh thought. After walking through the park for a few hours they made our way over to Gibson Beach on the south side of Point Lobos. The only problem was the photographers were waiting for them on the North side. Lets just say the photographers ( sisters) got their cardio in really fast that morning as they sprinted across the park. Once the photographers arrived there was nothing else to do but get down on one knee and ask the biggest question of Josh's life. Unfortunately, Natalie had sniffed it out over the past few hours wondering through Point Lobos, but fortunately for Josh, SHE SAID YES!
