Their journey began on August 22nd, 2015, at a Tim McGraw concert tailgate, introduced by a mutual friend. Carolyn had just turned 18, fresh out of high school, and Blake, 22 year old recent graduate from USF, was embracing life in his early twenties. At the time, Carolyn’s eyes where elsewhere and Blake was enjoying post-college single life. For years, they remained friends, crossing paths at tailgates and the occasional house party. It wasn't until late 2018, both newly single, that Blake finally mustered the courage to ask Carolyn out. Well, sort of. Blake invited Carolyn to a Lightning game (surprise surprise), mentioning an extra ticket due to his sister's last-minute change of plans. Little did Carolyn know, Blake's dad and his dad's girlfriend would also be joining in the suite. You can decide for yourself, but it definitely wasn't your typical first date as Blake likes to claim! Post-game, their follow-up game was weak, and eventually, they lost touch. Fast forward to St. Patrick's Day 2021, Carolyn was out for dinner with friends in Hyde Park when she ran into Blake and company. With Carolyn preoccupied watching 12-week-old Louie rolling in the dirt, their exchange was brief but certainly sparked something. A few days later, at a friend's wedding in Orlando, Carolyn sent a DM that changed everything. Now over three years later, they’ve raised two doodles, have embarked on countless international trips, and have accumulated an embarrassing number of foster puppies. Their engagement celebration weekend in August 2024 will commemorate nine years since they first met at that concert tailgate. Then, that same weekend in August 2025, they will have a private elopement in South Africa, celebrating their ten-year friendship.
