Adri was in her second year living in Providence Rhode Island. Sitting on her couch watching tv, she was swiping away, unhappy with the choices that the internet decided to give her that day. All of a sudden, she came across a photo of a man in front of a tree. Now, if you know Adri, you know that she knows her trees. Intrigued by this man, she swiped and said "That's a lovely tulip poplar you got there". Ant was hooked. He did not know such a woman existed that could identify tree species from a bumble profile (huge thank you to Dr. Leopold and dendrology, really came in handy there). Their first meet up happened quickly at the local flea market, which led to a Houndmouth concert, which led to many hikes, thrift store dates, and eventually moving in together after just a short amount of time.
After being together for just a short amount of time, everyone around Ant and Adri seemed to know how serious they were, except them. Everywhere they traveled people seemed to ask them either a.) how long have you two been married? or b.) when are you going to pop the question? Ant had already met most of Adri's family....in the United States. That just left about, say, 250 people that he still needed to be approved by before popping the question. So, they traveled to Sicily, Italy to meet the fam. After a few days of settling in and 9,000 lbs of pasta later, they decided the next day would be a travel day to see Mount Etna, one of the worlds' most active volcanos. Although, there was a slight bump in the road as it casually erupted the night before. Standing outside of our house we could see lava pouring out of the top, and a few curse words later we were unsure if we could make it the next day. But, luckily our cousin Nuccio had other plans! That morning Nuccio picked us up and drove us to the very top of Etna. He gave us exactly 10 minutes to hike up the rest of the ashy, slippery rock before needing to come back down for a dinner reservation. I told Ant, "Let's see how far we can get in 10 minutes!" So naturally, we sped walked up the foggy volcano. Ant told me to take a panoramic photo, and as I turned around the rest is history!
