One of Moira's best friends and bridesmaid, Anj, had just gotten a new job and Moira wanted to help her celebrate. It was summer, so there wasn't much harm in getting a few cocktails on a Thursday night. Nate and one of his groomsmen, Jim aka "Shady", had a tendency to use Thursday night, or what they referred to as Friday night's eve, to blow off the work week stress. It just so happened that both Moira and Nate picked the same setting for their Thursday night shenanigans, a sleepy town in Phoenix known as Old Town Scottsdale. As it often happens in Old Town Moira and Anj were hopping from bar to bar as were Nate and Jim. Both tandems ended up at HiFi. In 2013 Snapchat was really starting to take off and Old Town Scottsdale happens to be an incredible setting for people watching. Moira and Anj were attempting to capture one of these unique situations on Snapchat and Nate happened to be stuck in the way. Anj asked Nate if he had Snapchat so she could ask him to get out of the way of her Snap! Fortunately, Nate mistakenly took it as an opportunity to strike up a conversation with the girls. The two tandems hit it off, spending the rest of the evening enjoying each other's company (it could have been the Pine Minds!).

Moira and Nate had a trip planned for Portland, OR for a long July 4th weekend to spend time with close friends breaking in Hannah and Stew's brand new home. Nate thought it was the perfect opportunity to pop the question and start their next chapter surronded by the very people that were with them every step of the way as they developed their relationship and fell in love. Nate secretly got all the friends on board and planned a walk through the Japanese Garden in DT Portland. Nate found the right spot, a bridge overlooking the garden, and asked Moira to take a picture with him. She had absolutely no idea what was about to happen next as Nate dropped to a knee, professed his love and asked for her hand in marriage. Fortunately for Nate, that even in Moira's state of shock she managed to give him a yes and here we are! Written by: Nate Judd
