FAQs

Question

When and where is the vow renewal?

Answer

We will be celebrating on August 23rd, 2025 at The Lake House in Bulow in Johns Island, SC. The ceremony will begin at 5:31:30 PM, with the reception to follow. Full details can be found on the Schedule page.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We kindly ask guests to arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins so you have time to park, get seated, and settle in. No one wants to be that guest tiptoeing in mid-vows!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes – Garden Party Chic. That's a new phrase to me and I was excited to use it. Guess who they put in charge of the FAQs? Feel free to express your personal style, but please keep the setting and season in mind. And yes, dancing shoes are encouraged. Consider the temperature and drink lots of water, it gets hot and I will laugh and point if you pass out.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and the reception will be held outdoors. We’ll have backup plans in place just in case mother nature has her own ideas.

Question

Will there be transportation between venues?

Answer

We do not have a shuttle planned at the moment, we suggest carpooling or using a rideshare to get to the venue. We will update this section a few weeks before the date once we have a firmer answer, so check back then!

Question

Where should I stay? Do you have hotel blocks?

Answer

We’ve reserved room blocks at TownePlace Suites Charleston Airport/Convention Center for your convenience. Please mention our names or use the booking link on the Travel page for the discounted rate. If you need recommendations on locations to book Airbnb's, please reach out!

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes – there is ample parking available on-site. If you're planning to Uber or Lyft, that works too.

Question

Will there be a meal served?

Answer

Absolutely! A full dinner and dessert will be served during the reception. Come hungry—we’ve been taste-testing for months. Did you know they can put booze in ice cream now? What a time to be alive.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

We are going to be stocking self-serve drinks. Beer, seltzer, sangria, soda, water. Maybe even Fresca. Who knows. Drink responsibly, because once again I am not above pointing and laughing.

Question

Are you registered anywhere?

Answer

Yes! Our registry can be found on the Registry page. Your presence is the greatest gift of all, but for those who wish to give something extra, our registry includes a list of ways to contribute to our celebration.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Your invitation will specify if a plus one is included. If you're unsure, feel free to reach out—we're happy to clarify. If you have a plus one you know I won't like, definitely reach out.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! Kids are welcome to join the fun, but no booze pops. And please keep an eye on them as we will be on an island. There are at least 2 alligators. If an alligator takes your child, I will point and laugh.

Question

What should I do if I can't attend?

Answer

We’ll miss you, but we understand! Please RSVP as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly.

Question

Can I take and post photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request no photos during the ceremony so everyone can be present in the moment. We’ll have a professional photographer capturing it all—and trust us, they’ve got the good angles.

Question

What’s the wedding hashtag?

Answer

#AHundredYearsOfNickAndLex — feel free to tag photos from the reception so we can relive the memories!

Question

Who should I contact if I have more questions?

Answer

Please feel free to reach out to us directly. Call us, beep us, if you want to reach us.
