The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

We’ve truly known each other our whole lives. From co-op at FUMC when we were three to Garrett moving into my neighborhood when he was eight, our stories were overlapping long before we understood what that meant. God was involved from day one of our story. When we think back on growing up, we think of pulling all-nighters with our friends, sneaking out to see each other, talking on the porch in 17-degree weather, and Garrett telling my brother at thirteen that he was going to marry me someday. We both knew from a young age we were always drawn to one another’s spirit. This past summer on the Amalfi Coast, we had spent the evening swimming in the ocean, wandering the streets and exploring, and grabbing a to-go pizza before sitting out on our deck overlooking the coastline to chat. Garrett had thought of all the reasons we fell in love; it felt just like those special moments we had shared together. He “went to get water,” grabbed the ring, set up the camera, and proposed. And, of course, I said yes!! We stayed up for hours afterward, barely touching our pizza, just talking and dreaming while a thunderstorm rolled in. It was the sweetest beginning to this next chapter of our lives. If you know us, you know how long this has been in the making, how present the Lord has been through every part of our story. His goodness has carried us, guided us, and brought us right here. We’re endlessly grateful for what He has written and even more excited for what’s ahead.
