Take a stroll through Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville. This park is one of the best in our opinion. Not just in Huntsville, but anywhere! Grab a frosty beverage from a nearby bar or restaurant before your walk. Ask for a "purple cup" and you can bring it with you (or anywhere else downtown)! We're not joshing ya!
This place is quickly becoming our favorite place to go in Huntsville. The food and drinks are superb (as well as the extensive wine list), and you can't beat the ~vibes~ due to its location in Big Spring Park. Get the duck fat fries and a couple of glasses of wine on the patio. The park will never look prettier.
Pretty enough to get married at! If you'd like to visit the gardens before the festivities get started, all of our guests receive free admission on the day of the event! Just mention the Short/Donaldson Wedding when you arrive.
This one is pretty self explanatory. A cool place to visit and learn about space for both kids and adults alike. You can't miss it on your drive in due to the massive Saturn V rocket sitting right beside the highway.
Fun rooftop bar on top of the 106 Jefferson boutique hotel downtown!
This is an old middle school turned brewery/entertainment district! Our favorites are Straight to Ale and Yellowhammer Brewing! Purple cup rule applies here also! See if you can find the speakeasy. (Hint: I hope you remember your old locker combination.)
Very cool coffee shop over in the Lowe Mill District. Although there are many great spots for coffee in town, they have the best. Josh likes to make himself late to work at least once a week just to stop by and get a cup.
Outdoor entertainment district! Great place to listen to live music and have a beer while the kids play! Fun Fact: You can walk the short stretch between Stovehouse and Campus No. 805 with your purple cup!
This is a seriously cool speakeasy downtown! It is by reservation only, so click the link and you will be sent further instructions, including a secret password! The bartenders special-make your drink based on the flavors you like.
Located on Big Spring Park. There are some neat exhibits in the museum. You won't understand what any of them mean until you tilt your head to the side and squint while stroking your chin.
We attend wine club here once a month and they are the best! They have an amazing selection of wine by the glass or bottle and delicious tapas!
Our favorite fine dining restaurant in downtown Huntsville! It always hits the spot, but you do pay a premium for it...
Delicious upscale Italian food in a historic house downtown.
A common Huntsville debate, which is better, Rosie's or Phil Sandoval's? They are both great spots for tex-mex, but for us it's Phil's! Try the Pollo en Mole if you're feeling adventurous.
Pretty neat collection of visual artists and their studios all under the roof of a former textile mill. You can walk around for an hour or two and see anything from abstract paintings to guitars made of old cigar boxes.
There are several amazing bakeries in the area, but this one happens to be doing our wedding cake and desserts! They have a lot of unique pastry and sweet creations to try if you want to stop by for a preview.
