High School can be a magical time full of defining moments that help mold students into the young adults they've always aspired to be. After four amazing years of attending high school together, Savannah and I knew one thing for sure. We had no idea who each other were. You'd think after four years, four years of roaming the halls together we might have at least one, maybe two interactions but alas, no. Despite our aimlessness and wanderlust we ultimately reunited in a way that in retrospect, seems more like the plot of a tacky romantic comedy than an actual memory. (Reese Witherspoon would have played Savannah's part, she felt it very important you all know that.) Allow me to set the scene... The year is 2014, ten years since we graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas. I'm living in New York City enjoying my life as a struggling actor while Savannah is living in Fort Lauderdale, fighting her way through surgical residency. We each receive an invitation to a big reunion back home to meet with old classmates and share horror stories from the real world. Naturally, the reunion was cancelled due to a lack of RSVPs. With that, one of our more resilient classmates took matters in his own hands and hosted a party himself. I flew in to town with a few other friends and we set our sights on the big party to relive the glory days. We arrived at the party and it's great, great to see old friends and reminisce. While I’m telling a hilarious story in which my audience simply can’t contain their laughter, I catch a glimpse of what appears to be a unicorn. At first blush, I thought this beauty must be the arm candy of some rockstar or secret agent, but after I shuffled over to say hello and clumsily inserted myself into her conversation, I recognized her face. It was Savannah and she instantly became "the one".
