When we first met, we were both figuring out the type of adults we wanted to be. Dillon was in the midst of determining the career path he wanted to follow, and Savannah was deciding what her next steps would be after graduating from college. It was a stressful time for both of us, and the hours we spent drinking beer and playing pool at "The Duplex" were a much needed escape from the pressure of turning into adults. Those nights of partying with our friends turned into going on dates and spending almost all of our time together. We hadn't known each other very long, but it also felt like we had been friends forever. Being together was fun, and we didn't want to spend a moment apart. Over the last several years, much has changed, but the core of our relationship has remained the same. Dillon is still making jokes at every chance he gets, and Savannah is still laughing at only 50% of those jokes. One important thing, however, has changed: our love for each other has grown more than we thought possible. We are no longer two confused young adults trying to find someone to help us through the stress of growing up. Now, we are an unstoppable team that cannot wait to go on the adventure of life together.

Our engagement story took us back to the place where it all began: The Duplex. Dillon picked Savannah up at the airport while she was on a break from attending grad school in Tennessee. She glimpsed the outline of a box in his back pocket as they walked to the car and had a feeling that today was going to be special. After spending some time catching up, they got ready to drive to Okoboji, IA, to see their friends. Savannah was walking to the car when she heard Dillon call her name. She turned around, prepared to be annoyed about some stupid joke Dillon was going to make, and saw him holding an open ring box. He got down on one knee and, as Savannah unsurprisingly burst into tears, asked her to marry him. She said yes, and then laughed as she realized the outfit Dillon had chosen for the big moment: jean shorts and a denim shirt.
