How we met

2016-2017

I started working at Tom’s Drive In when I was 17 years old. I remember being introduced to Callan after I first came through the back door, so it was awkward and quick; however I thought he was cute. We worked together for quite a while. He was usually in the back making food or throwing on the buns, or up front taking counter orders. I was usually on ice cream/drive thru. We didn’t talk a whole lot, I told him he had a hole in his shoe and he just giggled and smiled at me…Yep! Once I turned 18 we started talking more, our coworker invited us to her graduation party. Callan asked me to go with him, he said he’d pick me up at my house. I was so nervous getting into the car, I had butterflies in my tummy and was so excited to finally hang out with him. We hung out a few more times, it was hard because I was in a controlling and abusive relationship; I wasn’t sure how to get out of it. One night Callan and I are sitting in his Black Kia listening to music and he tells me that he’s moving away to Colorado. We both were tearing up and he asked for a kiss goodbye, therefore we had our first kiss. Over the next week, we both realized that we wanted to be together no matter what it took. It wasn’t easy at first but we stuck through it. I moved in pretty quickly because I felt so safe and comfortable with Callan. We lived together for about a month then on December 1st 2017 he asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes! c:

Our engagement

November 6th 2021

Callan planned for a fall photoshoot for us on a Saturday. The night before he decided if his dad was still with us tomorrow he would follow through with his plan. We woke up that morning and went to go see Dad right away. He was hanging on, but comfortably resting in his bed. Callan had shown him the ring earlier that week when he was more alert, he was so happy. Safari got her camera ready and we headed out the door. We picked our favorite park in the area, Heesakker park in Little Chute. The sun was shining through the trees, the leaves were all different colors. It was warm, with a slight breeze. We got lots of different poses and shots in the woods. Callan kissed me and said I love you, then he did again 10 minutes later. Then I suggested we get a picture on this tree that was knocked down, Safari said hang on lets get a picture of you two in the middle of this pathway, I was like alright! She shot a couple pictures and then Callan got down on one knee and reached into his pocket and pulled out a little red box. As he opened it, he said Savannah I love you, will you marry me? I was shocked and said are you kidding me?! — Yes! He slid it on my ring finger, it was so beautiful. We kissed and hugged, got a few more pictures then I started tearing up and so did Callan and Safari. It was a very special moment. After we finished up and went back to DeeDee and Mark’s. We said look Papa we’re getting married! He was asleep but he let out a grunt of approval. We hugged and savored every minute of the time we had left with him. A few hours later as soon as the baby of the family arrived home; Angie, Dad took his last breath and went to heaven. It was a very emotional day but I wouldn’t of wanted anything different. I know he wanted us to have our special moment and be apart of it all.
