Your first year of high school can be nervous & exciting! Making new friends, creating new memories, going to dances & games. But never had in mind that we’d ever meet our “para siempre.” It was 7th hour, study hall. We were assigned a group project on the 2nd day of class about do’s/don’ts for high school. Dominic & I were put together in a group of 3. As we were working on our poster, me (Sav) being the social butterfly I was back in high school, told Dominic that I loved his freckles. When I say this man blushed, he BLUSHED & smiled so big. Then it kicked off our friendship! We became the best of friends all of freshman year. Sophmore year came around & we both felt that we had stronger feelings for eachother but just nervous on who made the first move. Sweetheart dance was coming up. Tradition for sweetheart dance is the female asks the male to be their partner for the dance. Figured it was a good opportunity to shoot higher in our relationship, SO. I made a poster for Dominic asking him to be my sweetheart. I went to one of his wrestling matches at KMC & I sat in the stands waiting for the *perfect* opportunity. At the end of his wrestling match, I decided to ask him with my poster “Dominic, will you wrestle your way to sweethearts with me?” Of course, he said yes. Sweethearts came around, the night was fun & had a great time dancing with one another. As the night ended, it was then time to go home. On our way home, thats when Dominic *FINALLY* asked me to be his girl. Of course, I said yes! & here we are almost 10 years later, finally planning our para siempre!
2022 was our travel year. We love traveling! Its honestly one of our favorite hobbies to do together. May-June was a lot of trips to Texas, then August-November was our west to east coast trips! Our special moment was taken in Sunny State California! We rode the train from Newton, KS to San Bernardino, CA. (Will never, & we mean NEVER will ride a train again. We immediately bought plane tickets right when we arrived to cali-LOL.) The first few days in cali, we hung out with Dominic’s mother’s side of the family! Had such a blast meeting everyone & made super memorable memories. It was day 3 in cali & we all talked about going to the beach! We’re in the car on our way to Laguna beach & I remember feeling a weird gut feeling that something was going to happen. As we get closer to the location, we see the ocean & it was the clearest ocean we’ve ever seen/been to! After driving around, checking into the hotel & trying to figure out what part of the beach we want to check out, we finally went to the beach! As we’re walking to the beach, I felt this weird feeling in my stomach get stronger. Dominic comes by & grabs my hand as we walk to the beach (he isn’t much of a hand holder type of guy which gave me more of a signal that something was bound to happen.) We get closer to the shore & we just walk along the beach. We’re hearing the waves crash & listening to the seagulls cherping. Dominic then says “let’s take a picture!” I immediately knew what was about to happen, so I went along & said “okay, selfie mode or someone take it for us?” & we saw this lady with her dog on the beach & he asked her to take it. She took a few pictures & then that’s when dropped down on the 1 knee. The lady taking the picture was so generous to change the picture settings mode to video so we have our moment caught on video! We remember it being soo quiet, hearing the ocean waves clash, & birds cherping. Very intimate & peaceful moment; very emotional as well, did shed a good amount of little tears. Of course, I said yes! Then everyone around us started cheering & clapping. & first thing we noticed right after the proposal, we saw dolphins swimming in the ocean, 3 to be exact! Wouldn’t have imagined a better proposal & better kick off to our traveling adventure to west to east coast!
