Things To Do

Mostly we like to hike.
Chautauqua Trailhead

Chautauqua Trailhead

900 Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80302

Best trailhead for hikes in Boulder. Try First & Second Flatiron or Royal Arch for shortish hikes with great views, or keep driving up Flagstaff Rd for a scenic drive and access to some less steep hikes with equally good views.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

1000 US-36, Estes Park, CO 80517

About an hour north of Boulder and one of the best things about living in Colorado. Hikes of all levels, camping and Trail Ridge Road, a very scenic drive along the highest paved road in the state (although its average winter closure date is 10/23 so check conditions). Try Twin Sisters or Gem Lake if you don't have a NP pass or don't want to pay admission. Reservations for entry end 10/11 so you don't need to worry about that.

Pearl Street Mall

Pearl Street Mall

1942 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302

Downtown Boulder has a lively walking mall with street performers, restaurants, and shops. Also Tim works here, or did when we went to work. Make sure to visit the Boulder Bookstore and Into the Wind kite/toy shop. Boulder creek is two blocks away if you want a nice creekside walk after.

Kathmandu Restaurant II

Kathmandu Restaurant II

1964 28th Street, Boulder, CO 80301

An Indian restaurant in a former Chinese restaurant and Tim's favorite in the whole world.

Downtown Louisville

Downtown Louisville

700 Main St, Louisville, CO 80027

The little old mining town near our house has a cute main street with cafes in historic buildings.

Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkin Patches

1536 Courtesy Rd, Louisville, CO 80026

October here means lots of pumpkin patches if you're in a fall mood. We recommend 7th Generation Farm (mapped) for farm animal ogling or Cottonwood Farm for a corn maze. Free if you're not buying a pumpkin.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

28194 U.S. 6, Dillon, CO 80435

The only ski area that might be open by 10/16 - it is about half of years. So don't plan on it but you might get lucky!

Aspen Leaf Peeping

Aspen Leaf Peeping

Estes Park, CO

A lovely things about the mountains is that you can fast forward the seasons by going up in elevation. You'll be able to find yellow (and occasionally red) aspens somewhere.

For all the days along the way
