We eloped! It was April 1, 2020 and we had just put the baby down for a nap. As we sat on the couch, thinking about how we were going to spend our day, we both looked at each other and said: "Let's get married!" To be honest, we had been wracking our brains trying to imagine a contingency plan since outside wasn't set to open back up until a few days after our scheduled wedding date. So I had messaged a Reverend and revolutionary friend of mine to see if she would be willing and available to be our officiant should the time present itself. She agreed! We pulled up to her house and got married that day, there on her front lawn in Gentilly. It was a very hard decision to make knowing that we would not be able to celebrate with our family and friends. We missed out on traditional photographs, partying the night before with our wedding party, my dad walking me down the aisle. We missed out of toasts and cheers and warm embraces. But what we gained was so much more. We became one and vowed our devotion to each other in a time where everything else was so up in the air. Showing up together that day was a true testament to our commitment to each other, our family, and our lives together. Don't fret, we are still navigating this tough time and hoping to schedule a celebration with all of you once we are in the clear! Be on the look out for more information soon. Thank you all for your support from the bottom of our hearts, The Browns.
We met on the sidewalk in front of a bar in New Orleans. But, rewind to earlier that night. My best friend called me to meet her at a bar for drinks and with her, was someone we went to college with(heyyy Daria!) but I didn't know. We had a few and decided to head over to a party, #TheTippingPoint. Daria invited Cale to the bar to meet us and hang out. In true Cale B... fashion, he arrived 3 hours later when we were leaving and the party was about to end. We ran into him on the sidewalk and I was instantly captivated. After a brief conversation and a lot of energy exchanged, we parted ways. Once arriving home, I realized I couldn't miss the chance to connect with him. Luckily, earlier that night I had gotten Daria's phone number because she was going to help me navigate logistics for a work event. So, at 4AM, I sent her a text asking for his number and later she sent it to me. I texted him immediately and, well, the rest is history. It was several weeks before I would see him again. But we ran into each other at Jazz Fest and haven't stopped experiencing life together since!
