If you ask Ty, he would say that we met in a library. Barnes & Nobles is the "library" he is referring to, even though that is actually a bookstore. But in reality, I met Ty at the start of my senior year in college. Winston Salem was my pit stop location before heading up U.S. 421 to Boone. During one of my normal stops, I decided to run into Sheetz to fill up my tank, and to grab something to snack on to keep me awake on my drive. As I was in line to check out, I was approached by a tall guy, who reminded me a lot of my childhood crush, and his friends. If you know either of us, you know we are both initially very quiet, so it shouldn't be a surprise to hear that his friends did all of the talking. They explained to me that I was his type and suggested we get to know each other. Again, me being the quiet person that I am, my response was "I'm just trying to get gas, but he can have my Snapchat and message me there." I was nervous and contemplated turning him down when he invited me out initially. But with some encouragement from my mom, I ended up meeting him at Darryl's and gained a lifelong friend and partner.
As someone who rarely reads, I can't tell you what led me to the library this day. As I was walking up and down the aisles, my eyes were drawn to a beautiful girl standing just two feet in front of me. I knew that it would be a while until I came back to this library, (Barnes and Noble I believe- Mary says it's a bookstore), if I ever went back at all, so I mustered up the courage to ask her for phone number. Lucky for me, I was able to get it no problem, and we continued our conversations through Snapchat and iMessage. After a few days of consistent conversation, I invited her to spend an evening with me, eating at one of the nicest restaurants I know- Darryl's, and going to see the newest romcom in theaters- Crazy Rich Asians. That's all it took- good conversation, nice food, and a somewhat funny movie and she was hooked! That night, she agreed to be my girl friend, and now almost 6 years later, she is my fiancée!
Tinder. They met on Tinder. No one knows why they can never just say: "we met on Tinder".
