1. September 1, 2022 – Baylor Honors Freshman Assembly Geni walked into an assembly and saw Saul across the room. In hopes that he was an Irish grad student (ginger, beard, flat hat), she sat next to him and they had their first conversation. She was disappointed by his American-ness but appreciated his friendliness. Shortly after, Saul started getting breakfast with Geni and her friends every morning because they were all in the same morning chapel class. He and Geni didn't talk much. 2. November 18, 2022 – Airport ride Geni needed a ride to the airport for Thanksgiving break, so she asked everyone sitting at the breakfast table if someone was able to give her a ride to the Dallas Love Field airport. Saul, who happened to be going to a wedding in Dallas on the same day as Geni’s flight, volunteered. It ended up being the fastest car ride of their lives. They found out they had a ton in common, talked up a storm, and were sad when it ended. Saul texted his friend Blayne afterward and joked that he was going to go ring shopping in Dallas. After that, Saul and Geni talked a lot, but they didn't get a chance to hang out alone until the next semester. 3. January 21, 2023 - First “Date” Geni texted the group chat asking if anyone wants to see Puss in Boots: The Last Wish with her. Saul volunteered. She thought it was platonic (after all, she texted the whole group chat). He thought it was a date. Nevertheless, it was their first time alone together since the airport ride and they had a blast. They kept hanging out after that in grocery stores and at various other events that Geni needed a ride to. 4. March 30, 2023 - Saul confessed his love and found out Geni is not dying Geni needed another ride to yet another place. Saul instantly volunteered. On the way back, Geni, who was battling a migraine, went on a grumpy rant about a bad romance novel and concluded with “If that’s what love is, count me out!”. Saul decided, for whatever reason, that this was a great time to confess HIS love. Saul was laboring under many misconceptions. He thought that Geni's romance novel rant was a passive aggressive way to tell him she wasn't interested, but he was determined to proceed anyway. At the same time, he also believed that Geni was terminally ill, aka, about to die, which added to his overall stress. Poor guy. Geni silently listened to Saul's epic love confession. She thought "That's a good speech. Wow, that really explains why he took me to the grocery store so many times. Dang, I really wish I wasn't having a migraine right now." She apologized and said she had to go to bed. They prayed, Geni went to bed, Geni did not sleep at all because she realized she was also in love (and was having a migraine). The next day, Geni bombed her Latin exam because she was too in love to remember to study. Then they talked. Geni said that she liked him too and wanted to keep going out on casual dates and Saul found out Geni is not terminally ill. Yay. 5. August 14, 2023 - Boyfriend and girlfriend! Geni and Saul reunited after a long summer of pining and made their relationship official. 6. August 8, 2025 - Engagement Geni’s dad asked her to go for a short hike to a lookout near their Colorado house. He kept making suspicious comments about how she should put on a dress to go hiking. This offended Geni’s sense of dignity (why would you hike in a DRESS?) but she suspected nothing. Right before they reach the lookout, Geni’s dad said he had to go pee in the woods and told Geni to keep climbing up to the lookout. Somewhat perplexed (why would he pee in the woods when they’re ten minutes away from home?), Geni kept climbing the lookout. Saul was at the top with a guitar and a picnic. They hadn't seen each other for two months. Geni was so surprised and excited that she threw her glasses into the bushes and then they had to spend a while looking for them. When they were finally situated, Saul sang The Luckiest by Ben Folds and proposed to her.
