What's the dress code for the wedding weekend?

Answer

For the Friday welcome party, you should wear smart casual (e.g. slacks and a button-down or a more casual dress) or cocktail attire. For the ceremony and reception on Saturday, you should wear formal attire. You’re welcome to wear Western or Indian attire for any of the wedding events! Suits, dresses, jumpsuits, sarees, lehengas, shalwar kameez, kurtas are all good! As with Western weddings, we request that you don’t wear white. White is traditionally a mourning color for Hindu rituals, and this is a celebratory occasion! Brighter colors are very welcome!

Where can I find Indian attire to wear?

Answer

There are lots of online and in-person options to find outfits for the wedding. Online options include Nazraana, Cbazaar, Indya, Etsy, and even Poshmark if you would prefer to wear something pre-loved. We don't have as many recommendations for in-person options, but have visited Saree Shop in DC (1625 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20007) and Vintage India NYC (132 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10016).
