Wedding Party

The Ladies and The Gents

Carly Spencer-Ewald

Matron of Honor

As Cassi's annoying younger sister, some of my fondest memories include stealing her clothes and fighting over the bathroom. An earlier memory that warms my heart is when Cassi, Tessa, and I decided to create our band. Cassi, a natural born leader and perfectionist, deemed herself band manager and wrote all of the songs. I, a natural star, was the lead singer. Still to this day, I have some of these songs memorized. She made us practice A LOT! It is safe to say that Cassi missed her call in the entertainment world!

The first time Adam caught me texting my husband before he was my husband, he immediately yelled at me asking “what are you doing texting my friend?!” He’s always had an issue with his friends also being my friends. After the first time I met Cassi, any time I was with Adam and I saw her name pop up on his phone, I wanted to return the favor and yell at him asking “what are you doing texting my friend?!” But I never did, because I didn’t want him to over think anything, and I really didn’t want him to mess this one up. Cassi came into our lives, able to have conversations with us like we’d known her for years. She fit just like a glove, and every day I’m still hoping my brother doesn’t mess this one up. All jokes aside, watching these two grow together, and fight for their relationship, has made me proud. I know they have what it takes to make it, and I couldn’t be happier that we are all friends AND family now!

I have loved Cassi from the moment she emerged from the womb (shout out Auntie Susan). I am just 6 months older, but I look up to Cassi in so many ways - her determination, kindness, and compassion are truly aspiring. I'm so happy to be apart of your special day and I can’t wait to keep coordinating chaos with our new family member Adam!!

There are honestly too many memories to pick just one about the two of us. We have known each other since I moved in next door at 3 years old. Since the day we met we were inseparable and often mistaken for being sisters. There were days we begged our parents for a gate in the fence because our front doors weren’t close enough. Countless sleep overs and nights out, creating a business together, even a moment where we started a band. But my favorite of all time is the day we met and Cassi read a book to me outside our houses and she decided then and there we would be best friends.

When I was 16, I met Cassi during one of the darkest times in my life. I met her in a room of people like me but Cassi understood me best and her perspective stood out to me. She was and still is an absolutely brilliant, courageous, charismatic, classy, and extraordinary person. I knew then what I know now, I totally want to be and remain one of her best friends. One day we reconnected over our love for the ballgame (Go A’s 4ever, wherever, thank you) and have stayed close ever since. Adulthood gets demanding and life has its ups, downs, and changes, but one of the very few things that has stayed consistent in my life has been my timeless connection with Cassi. Never once have I been judged, criticized, or let down by her. She brings love, inspiration, sweetness, and power everywhere she goes. I’m super excited and absolutely honored to be a part of her wedding party. Every minute spent with her is one to be cherished and I’m so grateful to see her happily on her way to celebrating the beginning of a forever with a man that knows how to appreciate her.

There aren’t a lot of friendships that start the day you are born, but lucky for me, my friendship with Cassi was written in the stars (or coordinated by our parents, either way). We were twins from day one. With matching haircuts and coordinated outfits, we spent our childhood trying to convince anyone we could that we were identical twins. While we don’t use our sister aliases anymore, I am still lucky enough to have Cassi as a cousin and best friend. She is always a constant in my life. Bonding over our dear Oakland A’s and slightly crazy love of running, carrying our friendship into adulthood has been such a gift.

When it comes to mine and Adam's friendship, there’s not much that I can say publicly that won’t result in an indictment of some kind…. Putting our friendship into words feels nearly impossible. We’re the wild card friends of any group and we certainly aren’t for everyone. For the last 20 years we’ve lived more life and created more memories than most people do in a lifetime. We have a bond like no other and the backstories to prove it.

I have no idea how I met Adam, but I did, on some very average day, right after he moved to Benicia in 2nd Grade at Mills Elementary. We grew up walking distance from each other and took it upon ourselves to bring our community together by rounding up the neighborhood boys, including Ally Renshaw, launching fireworks at the park, throwing happy meal toys under car wheels, and mud-sliding down the hill behind my house. On a typical middle school Friday, we'd walk home to play football at 1st street park and then campout on Adam's trampoline or Nate's hillside platform. In high school, we raced to In-N-Out during lunch and bribed our math teacher with food to not mark us tardy. On Free Slurpee Day, we drove to every 7-11 within an hour of our house, and at graduation we played the Senior class song on guitar together. After college we lived together with Nik, for basically half a decade. I can't talk about our Peru or Europe backpacking stories because they aren't website or family appropriate, but you can be sure there were a lot of pisco sours and someone got into a fight with a hostel employee resulting in us being chased through downtown. I also probably shouldn't talk about the good times we had at Coachella and other festivals because my mom is reading this. Somehow, Adam tolerated me or I tolerated Adam (or Heather tolerated both of us) for over 25 years. We fight like an old married couple. We had a lot of good times. I'm pretty sure we both remember some of it.

I’ve known Adam since 6th grade, and he has been one of my best friends since. In late High School the movie “Across the Universe” came out. I’d tell you what it was about, but I can’t, as I never saw it. My mom kept telling me I just had to see it, and I refused because I was stubborn. One of the many times my mom wanted me to watch it, Adam was at my house. Now, Adam has always loved to “stir the pot.” If there was ever a proverbial fire, Adam would be the first to throw gasoline on it. So, when my mom brought up the movie, and Adam saw my reaction, Adam jumped in with, “Eli, you should watch it. It’s a great movie!”. The back and forth between Adam and my mom about the movie lasted 30 mins. Once my mom finally went upstairs, Adam and I started cracking up. While I was annoyed, I also thought it was hilarious. Adam and my mom’s back and forth was never about the movie (at least to Adam) it was about taking an opportunity to tease each other (in this case, me) and have something to joke and laugh about. We then set up Franchise Mode on Madden and played video games until morning. This story encapsulates many memories of Adam and I. We love pressing each other’s buttons, laughing, Franchise Mode, and everything is hilarious, even when it is at one of our expenses. Also, the 2 best parts about the above story are 1) I’m 99% sure Adam has never seen that movie, and 2) my mom brings up Across the Universe every time she sees Adam, which drives me a little insane every time!

Adam and I met while rushing our Fraternity Phi Kappa Psi back in 2009. We immediately connected and I knew we would be brothers for life. From parties to mischief and everything in between, he’s been my partner in crime. No seriously I hope the law doesn’t catch up to all the crimes we have committed

Frankie Saitz

Groomsman

Adam and Frankie became friends in second grade when Adam moved to Benicia. They have had a blast playing lots of video games, winning championships in fantasy, taking trips to SoCal, buying unreasonable amounts of baseball cards, and going to Peru. They are both always up for an adventure.

Groomsman

I met Adam through Justin at a sleep over sometime in third or fourth grade. Since then we have been on the same t-ball team, played in the middle school band together, hiked 89 miles at Philmont together, and shared countless memories. Adam was always a core member of the neighborhood gang that spent weekends playing video games, having airsoft wars, taking Minnie to KFC for popcorn chicken, and dealing with condensation on a sleeping bag at a sleepover. To this day Adam is still a core member of the group and I look forward to the days we go duck hunting together or shooting at the range. I hope there are many more days in the future just like the ones we have had.

It all started in Spring ‘11… I first met Sass (Adam) when I joined Phi Psi, a fraternity at SDSU. Fast forward a year and we became roommates living in the fraternity house and 40 Tuesday’s was a great idea that Sass came up with. We also hosted beer pong in our room nightly, needless to say it was a blast living with him. Fast forward another year, we are still roommates and I didn’t think it could get any wilder than last year…enter White Boi Matt; if you know you know. This is only the beginning of how I met Adam and Matt.

Petunia, P, Tuna, Shmoopy, my mom calls me all these names and many more. My parents picked me up at the Oakland Airport right before the Superbowl and Valentines Day in 2021. I love cuddles, walks, bubbles, and peanut butter and cheerios just like my mama. I love sleeping in the King Size bed when Dad travels. Mom and I play it off real, real well.
