We met on Bumble, much to Ben's chagrin. Ben wanted a more romantic narrative; Sash was busy double-booking her men and running out of available guys on Bumble to date. We first connected over our love of books. Ben asked Sash for one of her favorites, then immediately went out and bought it. He started to read... and discovered he loved it. And he started to get interested in Sash. By the first date (an hour-long lunch - Sash was serious about that double-booking!), Ben had already read the first half. Sash was impressed, but... noncommittal. Between date one and two, Ben knew he still had to prove himself. So he hopped on a Citibike and rode across town to the West Village, to see if the tiny cottage mentioned in the book was really there. He sent Sash the quote, and told her the cottage did indeed exist. Sash was - ahem - very impressed. For date two, Ben came bearing gifts: a copy of his favorite book, and a bone for Sash's new puppy, Barley. They took Barley on a walk together, and discovered they both were obsessed with the same book about... attachment theory. (Seriously, Ben? Who even are you?) But what really won Sash over? A few dates later, Ben told Sash he'd cut off his conversations with other women, because he was serious about her. Later that day, Sash went onto Bumble, just - you know - to check out Ben's profile... and it had disappeared. He'd already taken it down, and closed his account. He'd chosen her; and so of course, she chose him, too.
