How We Met

Who said you can't use modern technology to meet your match?

Speaking of 'match'... we met on 'Match.com'. Mike had just moved to California a few months before, and he was talked into creating an account (thanks, Danny!). Sasha on the other hand, was trying to find herself again after her move back to California hadn't been going quite as planned. It was fate then, that Mike decided to message Sasha. He had to wait, however, because Sasha never logged in. One day, Sasha decided she was ready to discontinue her account. When she logged in, she saw she had a few messages and decided to read them before cancelling her subscription. And there it was, the message from Mike. She decided to take a chance and message back. After a few days of talking, they decided to plan an official date. The day before the date, however, Sasha was having the worst day ever. She had just lost her job. Mike called not knowing what was going on and said he was in the area, and did she want to have a 'pre-date' and grab a drink with him so the following night's date wasn't as awkward. Normally, Sasha would have said no to this as she wasn't in the best mood, and wasn't wanting to get all 'dolled up'. But, with a little convincing from a friend (shout out to Christa Ledbetter!), she said yes. And, as they say in the most cliché way... the rest is history.

The Proposal

Let the #weddinggate2020 planning commence!

Mike and Sasha decided to spend the Christmas holiday at her parent's house in Vail. As the tradition, they were surrounded by family throughout the whole trip. On Christmas Eve, the family had the opportunity to go to an event through the hotel. Sasha and Mike weren't feeling up to it though, so they stayed home. Sasha's mom told them she really wanted to get a family photo this year, so they needed to start getting ready and dress nicely. Not thinking anything of this request, they both started getting ready at once. After an amazing dinner with the family, they all sat down to partake in the yearly family tradition of opening one present each on Christmas Eve. This year, the tradition was changed a bit and turned into a game. Sasha was the last to open her gift that night. She and Mike had planned for her to open a gift she already knew about so that the next day everything could be a surprise. However... Mike changed the plans on her. He walked over to the tree and picked up a small, blue gift bag. He said he was sorry to change things up on her, but she needed to open that one instead. As she reached into the bag, she felt that one thing all girls dream of having in their hands... a small velvet box. At once, she started to cry. Mike tried to tell her all the things he was feeling, but as he had started to cry himself, not much came out. Sasha pulled out the box and opened it. As she did so, Mike asked, "Will you marry me?" Sasha looked at the BEAUTIFUL ring, started crying even harder and barely got out her yes before everyone in the room (all crying too) started to clap and cheer. Her mom and aunt hung a sign on the fire place, a hidden cake was pulled out, and champagne was poured... it was an absolute dream come true and the perfect proposal.
