Colby and Saryn met when Saryn was in 6th grade and Colby was in 7th grade. Colby had recently broken his femur and was returning back to school. As you could imagine he was very behind and came to ask Saryn’s mom, Mrs. Davis, for some help with math homework. Mrs. Davis was in a meeting when Colby came rolling into her classroom to find her daughter sitting at her desk. He asked when she would back when Saryn replied it’ll be a while probably. Colby then asked, in typical Colby fashion, if Saryn had any idea how to do any of this “math stuff”. Of course she didn’t at the time because she was in the grade below. The following school year Colby had to be held back making them in the same grade. They both starting attending youth group at Central Baptist Church where they got closer on church trips and finally began talking...the rest is history.
It was Fourth of July Weekend and Colby was adamant on making a trip down to the Biltmore. Saryn had never been and Colby, being the history buff he is, was dying to take her to see it. Saryn and Colby decided it would be a fun trip to take their parents and families on as well since it had been a while since either of them had been. Upon arriving everyone seemed to want to take pictures of Saryn and Colby at every location, which Saryn thought was a little odd but didn’t think twice about it. Colby then was insistent on going to stand next to the fountain in front of the biltmore, but Saryn thought that was silly because the fountain wasn’t even on. Colby seemed upset about this but wouldn’t say why. He finally explained in front of the Biltmore where he got down on one knee and asked Saryn to marry him. Of course she said YES!
