Although Sart and Makayla had not met yet, they both decided to start their fitness journey in the summer of 2021. Sart had just moved to San Antonio for college and was immediately searching for a gym. Meanwhile, Makayla was already a resident of San Antonio and had just completed her first year of college. After realizing how crowded UTSA’s campus recreational center was, a local gym nearby (YourFitness365) would eventually become their home away from home and, ultimately, the location where Sart and Makayla would first meet. Despite seeing each other almost every day at the gym, neither of them would say a word, not even a wave or a smile. Truth be told, they were both shy to say hello; however, if you ask them, they will insist that they were “too focused” in the gym. In fact, it would take nearly two years for one of them to build the courage to introduce themselves; yes, it was Makayla that had gone up to Sart. After getting to know each other that day, they both decided to spend their cheat meal for the week together, which consisted of pizookies from BJ’s Restaurant. Ultimately, this cheat meal spent together would be their first of many more to come.

After Sart and Makayla’s second date, they passed by a gazebo near the Eilan Hotel at La Cantera. Sart liked the scenery and thought it was romantic. At that moment, he thought that this would be a perfect place to do something special for Makayla, but he didn’t know for what occasion yet. Nonetheless, Sart always kept this place in mind. Over a year and a half later, he thought of the perfect occasion to use the gazebo for: his engagement proposal to Makayla. Now, planning a surprise proposal for Makayla would be a challenging task for Sart. In fact, planning any surprises for her was nearly impossible. She always finds out everything; it’s almost as if she has a sixth sense. Sart knew that this proposal was going to have to be strategically planned and executed. For two months, Sart planned the proposal with his and Makayla’s parents. They finally came up with the plan: Makayla’s mom would convince her to get her nails, hair, and makeup done for a “couples photoshoot” while Sart’s family would be setting up candlelights, rose petals, music, and the marry me sign at the gazebo. Fast-forward a few hours later, Sart and Makayla were finally off to their “photoshoot.” As they approached the location, Makayla was curious as to why both of their parents were there. It wasn’t till after they started walking towards the gazebo that she realized what was actually happening. At that exact moment, Sart got down on one knee and asked Makayla to be his wife. With excitement and joy, she said yes!
