In 2010, Michael started working at Flagship Merchant Services in Charlestown, MA. Towards the end of 2012, he was deciding if he should quit and move back home to Connecticut to help with his parent's business, but something told him he should stay a bit longer. In January of 2013, Brittany moved back to Massachusetts from Pennsylvania and started working at Flagship Merchant Services. Her Philadelphia sports memorabilia on her desk caught Michael's eye, and they started to chat. Later Brittany asked for Michael's help with the scanner, which he insisted she already knew how to use. They started playing bubble hockey during breaks, bowling at King's after work, and going on adventures together. This is when Brittany's nickname for Michael, Nessy, was born (His number is under that name in her phone to this day, hence #SayYesToTheNess). Michael moved back to CT, as originally planned, in April of 2013. Even being a couple hours away, they couldn't stay away from each other. They saw each other pretty much every weekend, and on May 19, 2013, Michael officially asked Brittany to be his girlfriend after spending the day in Stonington, Mystic, and Mohegan Sun with her and his family. It continued as a long-distance relationship, even when they got Mia, their first dog in the summer of 2013, and Canby, their second dog, in the beginning of 2015. Everything changed when Brittany landed a job at Trinity College in the summer of 2015, right down the road from Michael! The four of them finally got to be together! The stars were aligned for the rest of their story to continue...
Brittany and Michael wanted to plan a little getaway in the fall of 2016. Michael was insistent on doing it in Boston, so without telling Brittany first, he booked a few days at the Hotel Commonwealth, and off they went. The hotel was beautiful and Brittany felt spoiled, especially by the fact that Michael wanted her to open some gifts before they headed to dinner! Michael had gotten her a special bottle of champagne, a purse, a necklace, earrings, and a blanket. Brittany was confused but was grateful and happy. They went to dinner in the North End and had a wonderful night. The next morning, they rode bikes around the city and had breakfast. Then Michael surprised her with a Spirit of Boston Cruise, which she had always wanted to do! There were roses and champagne waiting on the table of the boat, and everyone kept asking what the occasion was..."Just a date! Right?" thought Brittany. They ate and danced and enjoyed the views touring the city that they fell in love in. After the cruise, they got ready for the rest of the evening, dinner reservations at Top of the Hub at 9PM! Brittany started to get a bit suspicious when Michael told her they had to be at Sissy K's by 7PM. To her surprise again, there was a horse and carriage waiting for them by Fanuiel Hall! Towards the end of the ride, near where they first went "out" together, Michael asked if they could stop for a photo. He asked a couple walking by and insisted we get out. Brittany was confused why they wouldn't just take a photo sitting in the carriage, unknowingly throwing a wrench in poor Michael's plan. But he improvised and pulled out a box and proposed in the carriage. Brittany of course started crying and said YES! They enjoyed the rest of the night at the Top of the Hub, where Brittany's favorite gerber daisies and a bottle of champagne were waiting, and even finished the night bowling at King's like they used to.
