We met at a coffee shop in Oxford OH (Andrew's hometown) in the summer of 2020. I knew Andrew's parents before I met him from church, and I was at their home occasionally for a community group. The first time I was at their home, I saw pictures of him in the living room. Later that day at a coffee shop, I recognized him and decided to introduce myself. We chatted here and there after that as we'd run into each other that summer. A few months later on New Years Eve, I got a DM from Andrew and we started talking consistently from there, exchanging memes and sharing our favorite movies. I liked him from the jump! We began dating shortly after, which brought us to September 2023.
On a rainy mid-September day, Sarina and I were walking around New York City. After walking around Central Park in the rain for an hour realizing the spot I wanted to propose was blocked off by a music festival, my hopes of a beautiful proposal were dampened. We were both feeling very downcast as we were drenched and exhausted. So we went and dried off while wandering the MET. After leaving the MET, feeling a little better, we ate dinner at a rooftop bar that was supposed to have a great view but it was still raining so we had to settle for sitting inside. At the end of dinner, getting ready to leave, we wandered up to the rooftop portion just to get a glimpse of the view. And to my amazement it had stopped raining (the only time all day) and no one else was up there! As Sarina took a look around, I took this momentary weather reprieve, God had seemingly granted, as the perfect opportunity to redeem my plan. Sarina then turned back toward me and there I was, down on one knee, with the ring she'd been waiting for.
God has been abundantly generous with blessings throughout our relationship, most of which we've experienced through our loved ones who have shaped our lives. Andrew and I are deeply grateful for this upcoming day to celebrate our wedding, our friends, and our family. We hope you'll allow us to say thanks and join us June 1st in our celebration!
