Santander´s Cathedral is right at the heart of the city. The gotic arquitecture of the building is divided in two overlapping churches: the lower church is known as Parroquia del Cristo, dated in the first third of S. XIII. The higher one was finished at the end of that century but needed renovations during the fire that destroyed Santander in 1941. If you would like to visit the Cathedral and other historical places of the city, it would be advised that you order the
Sardinero Beaches are an emblematic part of Santander. they are divided in three: La Primera, La segunda y El camello. Enjoy the walk along the beach or got in a have a refreshing dive in the water! Lifeguard is on duty until 15 of September, there are wheelchair accesses in certain points and sunbed and umbrella service is available. If you are in the area and would like to eat: La Casa de Revert (comida española) La Finuca (comida española) El chino Mandarin ( comida china, pedir tallarines con gambas) Tatami ( comida japonesa)
Go to the beach, pack some sneakers and get ready to climb down a steep ramp, get all the way down and enjoy the beautiful beach where we got engaged!!! No recommended to go with kids or people with no physical preparation, be aware of the currents and be mindful that they might not be lifeguard on duty. If the tide goes up you must leave the beach immediately. If you do not feel qualify to make it to the beach, do not worry! Order a "Vermut de Solera" with some Rabas in EL CAZURRO. The views are breathtaking, and you can still have a great time without the sandy mess. Also, if you would like to have lunch, call the restaurant to make a reservation, they offer a daily menu (menú del día) for 20-25 euros per person. You should expect a menu with three course (first and second course, and dessert) for each course you will have at least three different dishes to choose from. My personal recomendations: Zamburiñas
This Catholic Colegiata is located in Santillana de Mar, a charming village that shows history in every step of the way. While there you can visit the Torture Museum based on artifact used by the Inquisition (http://www.museodelatortura.com/). Also, you can visit the replica of Cave of Altamira, a wonderful experience for all the family to learn about Prehistoric times (https://www.culturaydeporte.gob.es/mnaltamira/home.html).
