Sara and Drew met doing their shared passion, curling, in the winter of 2022. They were on the same team and got to know each other slowly while sweeping stones. As their friendship blossomed, a common topic of discussion was Drew’s love for cooking and baking and, in particular, pie. Sara was still on the dating apps and one Sunday scheduled a date in Downtown Raleigh with a man that eventually stood her up. Hungry and disgusted with men, Sara texted Drew and asked if he knew of any place she could eat downtown. While he had already eaten, he offered to meet her at Waffle House and proceeded to watch her eat. This was decidedly NOT a date. Sara, though, thought there was something there and asked her sister Lucia what she thought. Lucia gave an enthusiastic thumbs up. The REAL first date was in January 2023. After some back and forth, they shared pickle chips and trivia. And the rest is history…
