Maid of Honor
After 3.5 glorious years as an only child, Samika crashed the party. We met at El Camino Hospital when a weird, alien-looking baby was placed in my arms, and I was told she was my sister. Thus began our lifelong love-hate relationship—currently in the love phase (I think), since she’s my Maid of Honor and all. Samika currently resides in San Diego, CA.
Best Man
As Sarang’s older brother, Umang has had the privilege of knowing him for literally his entire life (whether he wanted to or not). Their childhood was filled with classic brotherly bonding—fighting over the computer, stealing each other’s clothes, and engaging in dramatic “I’m telling Dad” standoffs. But somewhere between college and adulthood, they miraculously stopped trying to annoy each other and became actual friends. Now, they’re close partners in crime. Umang currently resides in Atlanta, GA, where he enjoys life at a safe distance from Sarang’s bad jokes.
Bridesmaid
Sara and I first bonded at Ampersand and quickly made it our official spot, visiting multiple times a month after long walks and even longer residency shifts. We became each other’s go-to confidants—because who needs therapy when you’ve got each other and a shared love for ice cream? Sara is currently surviving her 2nd year of pediatrics residency in Fresno, CA, one scoop at a time.
Best Dog
Woof! I’m Bunty, a 3-year-old golden retriever mix. My hoomans rescued me from the shelter, and now I rescue them from eating alone. They’re finally getting married (took them long enough), and I’ve been promoted to Best Dog. My main duties include looking adorable, begging for treatos, and making sure no crumbs go to waste. If there’s peanut butter at this wedding, consider it mine.
Bridesmaid
Anaiah and I met freshman year, and it was pretty much love at first sight—mainly because we were always in the same classes, major, and dance crew. We spent so much time together that sleep was the only thing separating us. Ever since, we've been each other's hype squad, even while Anaiah works her magic as a nurse at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Best friends forever, just with better job titles now.
Groomsman
Jaysen and Sarang’s friendship began 28 years ago on a fateful kindergarten morning when their moms locked eyes across the classroom and silently rejoiced—another Gujarati boy! From recess to high school, their bond only grew stronger, built on a foundation of snacks, sarcasm, and questionable life choices. Decades later, they’re still inseparable, proving that true friendship survives time, distance, and even Sarang’s bad dad jokes. Jaysen currently resides in San Mateo, CA.
Bridesmaid
Teju and I met in medical school and instantly became part of the legendary girl gang, The Snaccs (self-proclaimed, obviously). We bonded over the shared trauma of med school, caffeine-fueled study sessions at every coffee shop in Des Moines, and complaining about everything. Now, with residency keeping us apart, we catch up on long drives. Here’s hoping the attending paycheck comes soon so we can actually see each other more than once every 2 years! Teju is currently a radiology resident in Chicago, IL!
Groomsman
Rishi and Sarang’s friendship was destined from the start—brought together by Sarang’s brother, Umang, and sealed by their undying love for the LA Lakers (and an unhealthy amount of basketball trash talk). Over the years, their bromance blossomed, their families became inseparable, and their group chats became 90% sports memes. Rishi currently resides in San Jose, CA, where he continues to rightly argue that Kobe Bryant is better than Lebron James.
Bridesmaid
Sheetal and I met at the University of Michigan through our South Asian sorority, DTPsi. A year ahead of me, she was the ultimate role model—always organized, with a Google Doc for everything. Every time we meet, it’s like no time has passed. Sheetal lives in the suburbs of Chicago, IL with her husband Sujal, but when we reunite, it’s like we’re back in college, picking up right where we left off.
Groomsman
16 years ago, fate (and UC Davis housing) brought Freddie and Sarang together as freshman-year roommates. Against all odds, they survived shared living quarters without wanting to strangle each other—an achievement greater than any college degree. From there, their friendship took off, fueled by a shared love of food, hiking, and questioning their life choices mid-trail. Freddie now lives in San Jose, CA, with his real lifelong roommate, his wife Tiffany.
Bridesmaid
Bharti and I met through mutual friends and got even closer through our South Asian sorority, DTPsi. Back in college, Bharti was the official party animal who showed me how to live it up. Now, we’ve both leveled up—swapping wild nights for fancy dinners and, dare I say, boujie tastes. Bharti currently lives with her husband Shiv in Pennsylvania, but they’re moving back to Chicago this summer
Groomsman
Pirran and Sarang’s friendship was forged in the trenches of their first real corporate job at Accenture, where they survived training, their first project, and countless meetings that could’ve been emails. Bonded by mutual confusion and the sacred tradition of never eating lunch alone, they became inseparable during breaks (and definitely spent more time discussing weekend plans and stock investments than anything work related). Pirran now lives in Carlsbad, CA, with his wife, Reena—though Sarang will always be his original work spouse.
