Nate will always remember the day he first met Sara. He was walking to class, and as he was passing through the Alumni Memorial Union on Marquette’s campus, he was greeted by a ray of light sitting behind the receptionist’s desk. With a beautiful, warm smile, Sara said hi to Nate, and he naturally got light-headed and started to sweat. From that moment, Nate would always daydream about taking Sara out on a date, but their story wasn’t ready yet. From Sara’s POV, everyone at MU knew Nate, and he had always caught Sara’s eye, but they were seeing other people. The timing wouldn’t be right until September 17, 2016 at the Rock the Green Music Festival in Milwaukee. Sara and Nate weren’t planning on seeing each other that day. Sara was planning on going with her friend, Sarah, and Nate was going with his friend, Allyson. Thankfully, Sarah and Allyson were good friends, and Sara and Nate’s paths reconvened. It didn’t take long for a spark to ignite between them. As they chatted, danced, and laughed their way through the night, it was clear there was a connection. The festival headliner, Lord Huron, started playing their song “She Lit a Fire,” and it became a recurring theme for Sara and Nate’s relationship. After that night, the two became inseparable and quickly fell in love. The next few years would entail endless memories, laughs, adventures, and many more music festivals. Even during their hardest moments, they were able to find a way to keep the flame alive, which all culminated on the night of July 4, 2020 when Nate proposed to Sara. With the sound of fireworks blasting and frogs chirping off in the distance, Nate and Sara were sitting around a dying fire. They quickly worked together to revive the fire, and that moment felt perfect for Nate to ask Sara to spend the rest of their lives together — and of course she said HECK YES.
