A true tale of Millennial romance - we met on Hinge! Our first date was on Aug. 1, 2019. We spent a good three hours just sitting and talking at a little restaurant, overall an excellent time. Except for one thing: neither of us was feeling it romantically, just on a friend level. He had mentioned a podcast he did with some friends, and after checking it out, I found his Twitter account. Nigel will tell you it was me being a stalker, but hey, he had his Twitter name RIGHT THERE on the podcast. I happened to notice that he tweeted about our date, giving the best compliment I've ever received by referring to me as "successful and stable," but felt I just wasn't crazy enough for him. Boy, I really had him fooled... Anyways, we continued hanging out as friends - seriously, just friends! It was awesome, we truly became each other's best friend. Later on, in late summer/early fall of 2021, I realized that I might actually have feelings for him and he was reportedly feeling the same way too. It was scary - this was one of my best friends, and if it didn't work out, that friendship was likely lost. Thankfully, he had the guts to make his feelings known and we became a couple on Nov. 22, 2021. We moved into our cute rental in Feb. 2022 and as of May 24, 2024, are officially homeowners! Nigel planned his proposal out for our trip to Chicago on June 1, 2024. We were there to see a show put on by our favorite YouTubers, Rhett and Link (Good Mythical Morning), and had a busy day lined up before the show. Chicago...I HATE Chicago! The weather fit my opinion, as at rained all day, but that worked out perfectly for the proposal. Our first stop of the day was 360 Chicago (94th floor of John Hancock Tower), where we were able to get some lovely views before the clouds fully moved in. We even did the Tilt window thing - I enjoyed that more than he did. He proposed in an observation room that we were lucky enough to have to ourselves, high in the sky with the rain clouds blocking out the city. It. Was. Perfect!
