We were running in Central Park training for the 5K Donut Dash when Sarah stopped to tie her shoe on a bench. She looked up, and imagine her surprise when she read on the bench’s plaque, “Sarah, Will you marry me? Love, Drew.” Was it a marriage proposal? Drew was also surprised. He hadn't put the plaque there. It was from 2004 from a different Drew to a different Sarah. On August 8, 2018, we went to dinner for Drew's birthday at the New York landmark Tavern on the Green in Central Park. It was such a delicious dinner and lovely night that we are tempted to derail this story into a description of the Peach Melba cheesecake. But getting back to the story… We finished our dinner at the same time that Shakespeare in the Park let out and crowds streamed around us. And there was our special bench empty, waiting for us, peaceful in the bustle. Until three theatergoers sat down on it for a second. And then got comfortable. And then started drinking. Drew finally approached them and asked if they could switch benches because this bench was very special to us. The three theatergoers happily obliged, and Sarah and Drew sat down on Sarah and Drew’s bench. After taking in the scene for a bit, Drew turned to Sarah and said, "I want to be with you forever. Will you marry me?" So 14 years after a different Drew asked a different Sarah to marry him, and almost two years after we met, Sarah said "Of course!" This was the real proposal, and it was a magical night on the bench in the park.
