It was early 2020, and a physician named Michael was stationed on the COVID unit at the hospital. It was a tough rotation for him, but made easier by a kind and intelligent respiratory therapist named Sarah. Michael liked Sarah's big blue eyes and Cleveland Browns surgical cap, and not-so-subtly let her know he was single. He reportedly said “I need a sugar momma” during rounds. However, Michael was not sure Sarah felt the same way, especially after he forgot to order an X ray that Sarah asked for. The rotation ended, and they parted ways. A few weeks later, Sarah and Michael matched on a dating app. Maybe she was interested after all? Michael was lucky her interest did not fade even though she had to ask him out twice before they finally scheduled a date. Their first date was a walk at Goodale Park and a beer (or two) at a nearby cafe. Ellie the Australian Shepherd was there to chaperone and wing-woman. They were totally in-sync for the entire date... until Sarah went to kiss him on the cheek and he headbutted her in the face. Luckily, he got a do-over on their next date, and the next one… Sarah and Michael spent the next year quarantining together, dreaming of all the things they would do when the world was open again. In the meantime, they became close very quickly by exchanging music tastes, hiking with Ellie, watching scary movies, and going on road trips. It was clear early on that they were each other's "one". Just over a year after their first date, they returned to Goodale Park, the site of their first date. Michael insisted they walk to the gazebo. Sarah was initially concerned about the nervous look on Michael's face, but all made sense when he got down on one knee. He only had to ask once.
