John Wayne Airport (Orange County)

John Wayne Airport in Orange County is definitely the closest to San Clemente (about 20 miles away). It is a smaller airport so offers limited direct flights but it is an easy uber ride from the airport to San Clemente.

San Diego Airport

San Diego offers a lot of options for flights from around the country. However, it is 60 miles from San Clemente. It is an easy, straight drive up the coast from the airport and there is also a train you can take from San Diego into San Clemente. The train is not a straight shot - bus or Uber/Taxi to the station, then a transfer in Oceanside, but is an option is you want to fly to San Diego and not rent a car. Plus a beautiful ride mostly along the Pacific Ocean.

LAX (Los Angeles Airport)

LAX also offers a lot of flight options and is 65 miles from San Clemente. There is a Metrolink/Amtrak train from Los Angeles to San Clemente.

Long Beach Airport

Long beach airport is a very small airport but they do offer some great flight options from certain places in the U.S. It is about 45 miles from San Clemente.
