Our story starts with us hating each other in middle school. We never talked, but had a mutual dislike for one another. We went to different high schools but ran into each other while in high school when we were both enrolled in an EMT course at the community college. We started to tolerate each other more and got through the course. Again, we went our separate ways until his senior year of high school and my freshman year of college. We were both in the paramedic program at the community college and ran into each other often. Nothing came of it for a while until a girl who loves coffee started to receive iced coffee before almost every class. This became a routine that grew into Chick-fil-A dates and study dates. After completion of paramedic school, we both began working in the Emergency Department. We then decided to move in together to see if we would be able to tolerate each other well enough. And to top it all off, we started nursing school together. So for almost 2 years we worked, lived and went to school together. If we could make it through that, we can make it through anything. We completed nursing school and began our new careers. With both of us being new, we were occupied with onboarding and didn't have much time for ourselves. We decided to take a weekend trip to Washington, DC as we had been discussing going for a while. The trip was going good and on our last night in DC, we went to see the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. We had been taking selfies throughout our trip, but when we went to the memorial, Cole (Nick, Nicholas, whatever you want to call him cause he goes by it all) asked someone to take one for us. Having no idea what was going on, I stood by the reflecting pool to take a picture. After a few photos were taken, we pulled away and the next thing I knew, Cole was down on one knee and I was in shock. Little did I know that the stranger taking our pictures was told beforehand and made sure to get plenty. After the initial shock was gone, the excitement took over. Tons of pictures and calls were made. Once returning home, congratulations were coming from every direction. After a few weeks, a wedding date was determined and preparations began. It has been chaos throughout while we continue to navigate this while furthering our education and buying a house. But, we have made it through so far and our love has only grown. We are so excited to get married and be surrounded by our friends and family. We hope you are able to join us for the celebration and we thank you for being a part of our lives!
