Like all great love stories, ours started with a little help from our friends. For months, mutual friends tried to get them to meet, but the timing never seemed quite right — until December 7th, 2024, when they were both invited to a “pasta-making night” at a friend’s house. Sarah Grace fully planned on leaving by 9 PM…but after finally meeting this Jesse guy she had heard so much about, the night somehow stretched until nearly midnight. Needless to say, neither of them remembers learning how to make pasta. A few days later, Sarah Grace invited Jesse to her TCU graduation party. As Jesse was leaving that night, he asked her out on their first date; Sarah Grace’s friends immediately started playing “Jessie’s Girl” for the rest of the evening. Their first date was on December 20th, 2024 in downtown Fort Worth at HG Supply Co. followed by Thompson’s Bookstore speakeasy. What started as casual conversation quickly turned into hours of talking about everything from favorite animals to the ways the Lord had been moving in their lives. From the very beginning, it felt easy, like they had known each other for years. On January 18th, 2025, Jesse asked Sarah Grace to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history. Then on March 7th, 2026, Jesse completely surprised Sarah Grace with the sweetest proposal. She arrived at his house thinking they were heading to an event in town, but Jesse had other plans. Despite the freezing cold rain, he insisted they have a picnic outside. Under a group of trees sat a white picnic blanket, a bouquet of flowers, and a small box. Completely oblivious, Sarah Grace talked his ear off while Jesse patiently waited to ask the question. Finally, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Through lots of happy tears, the newly engaged couple drove back to Sarah Grace’s house where both of their families were waiting to celebrate with them. Jesse is currently working as an apprentice electrician, and Sarah Grace is a PhD student studying neuroscience. They like to spend their days cooking together, playing volleyball, going to EDM concerts, two-stepping, walking their dog Ollie, and building a life they’re so excited to continue together.
