Kind of! In lieu of a formal ceremony, there will be a passed microphone during the dinner portion of the evening. Guests are encouraged to take the microphone and say something sweet. (Ex: "I like Alex because..." "I think this is a good match because..." "I think love is..." "My favorite song lyric about love is..." "My favorite movie is Die Hard and Sarah reminds me of John McClane because...") This will be a time for us to connect and fill the room with love (while we eat and drink!) before Alex and Sarah Grace briefly say "I do" and we all start dancing (to "Moves Like Jagger.") Obviously, there is no pressure to speak!
We will be getting some hotel blocks and will have that information on the website soon. There are also many AirBNB options, and we recommend staying in Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens, or Brooklyn Heights to be close to the wedding events. But also, it's NYC baby, and if you want to stay in the city--go for it!! It's an pretty easy trip in from Manhattan as well.
Yes! Everyone is invited to have a drink with us at Black Forest (Smith Street!) in Brooklyn. There are two locations so make sure you are going to the one on Smith Street. We will be hosting the bar and they have lots of yummy food there for you to purchase; otherwise we'd recommend eating dinner beforehand.
No. The wedding will be held inside the beautiful Prospect Park Picnic House (a fully enclosed and air conditioned venue). That being said, everyone has full access to the Prospect Park Long Meadow and is more than welcome to enjoy a drink outdoors during the cocktail hour or take a dessert outside to take a break from the dancing.
It doesn't matter! The whole event is inside. When you get out of your cab, there will be a three minute walk from the parking lot of The Litchfield Villa to The Picnic House. That would be the only moment you might get wet, so if you need an umbrella for that part--do it!
