We're Getting Married!

The Long Way Home They say timing is everything, but for us, timing took the scenic route. If you were to look at a high school yearbook from decades ago, you would find both of our photos tucked inside the same books. We walked the very same hallways and sat in the same cafeteria. In fact, we were just a soccer player and a softball player passing each other in the locker room corridor, completely unaware that our future teammate was walking right past us. The universe, it turns out, was just letting us simmer. We spent our twenties and thirties navigating different chapters, learning who we were, and collecting the kind of stories that only time can teach you. We waited a long time—longer than most—to find the kind of love that feels like a quiet sigh of relief. Then came our mid-forties. Enter a mutual friend, a birthday party, and a crowded bar. It didn't take a dramatic lightning bolt; it just took a single conversation (plus 11 days) to realize that the person we’d been looking for all along had actually been in the background of our lives for a very long time. Officially "meeting" for the first time felt less like an introduction and more like a reunion. It was a realization that every wrong turn, every delay, and every year spent waiting was just the long, necessary road leading us to that exact living room. Today, we look back and laugh at how close by we were for all those years, but we wouldn’t change a single second of the wait. Because the very best chapters of our lives didn't start until we finally found each other. Now, the roster is finally complete. We are a incredibly happy, sometimes chaotic and perfectly whole family of three—plus one very loved pup. Living proof that it is never, ever too late for a beautiful beginning.
