Things To Do

We're so excited to share some of our favorite places around Richmond with you!

Maymont

1700 Hampton St, Richmond, VA 23220

Maymont is a great place for everyone! There are beautiful gardens, a historic house, a nature center and more! The gardens are free to visit.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Our free art museum, perfect for everyone. There is also a sculpture garden outside.

Canal Walk

1512 Canal Walk, Richmond, VA 23219

The canal walk is near downtown and has several murals. You can connect to the Capital Trail bike path, Brown's Island (green space by the river), and the Potterfield Bridge from here.

Riverfront Canal Cruises

139 Virginia Street, Richmond, VA 23219

The Riverfront Canal Cruise is a great way to see the river and learn about some of Richmond's history. Tickets are $15 per person and should be reserved online in advance.

Scott's Addition Historic District

Richmond, VA 23230

Scott's Addition is a quickly growing neighborhood with many breweries and restaurants. We spend many Friday and Saturday afternoons here. There are also some cool shops. Parking can be a challenge. Some of our favorites: Ardent (brewery, where we had our first date!), Hardywood (brewery slightly outside of Scott's addition, good beer, pizza oven), Starr Hill (brewery with a rooftop bar, Sarah goes to their run club!), Väsen (brewery), ZZQ (highly recommended BBQ place, go early, like lunchtime, they sell out frequently), Pinky's (Mediterranean restaurant), Brambly Park (restaurant and winery, all meals, good for large groups), Tazza Kitchen (a classic Richmond restaurant).

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Cute shopping and dining district. Some of our favorite spots are Sugar and Twine (coffee shop), The Jasper (bar), Lolita's (tacos), Pho Luca's (Vietnamese), Fire and Hops (pizza), and Mongrel (gifts and souvenirs).

Church Hill

Richmond, VA

Beautiful historic neighborhood that Sarah lived in when she first moved to Richmond. Check out Libbie Hill park for great views of the city and river. For dining, check out Sub Rosa (bakery), The Emerald Lounge (cocktail bar), Union Market (market and fresh-made sandwiches), Proper Pie Co (a Richmond Classic), and Cobra Burger (burgers).

Hollywood Cemetery

412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Historic cemetery with a lot of history and beautiful views. It is free to visit, and there are several tour options as well.

And more!

One of the things we love about Richmond is that there are so many things to do! There are many more options for food, history, culture, sights, and more! Look at additional recommendations.

For all the days along the way
