We are getting married at the Kauk Ranch because we both highly value family and using this as our venue is a purposeful way for us to reflect this at our wedding. Brady cherishes the property where he grew up and loves the freedom that the ranch has given him to work with his hands, both as a young man and now as an adult. Additionally, we are choosing not to have a bridal party (bridesmaids and groomsmen) because we have so many wonderful friends and family and don’t like the feeling of ranking friends. Instead, Sarah wants to reflect her French upbringing by following the largely European tradition of not choosing a bridal party. We are instead keeping our entire wedding small so that we can enjoy each person's presence and significance at our celebration.
In an effort to keep the wedding small and intimate, we made the decision not to extend invitations to plus ones. Our desire is to be surrounded by our closest friends and family on this special day.
1) Semi-formal dress code 2) Dark neutral color scheme please (black, gray, navy, khaki, dark green, maroon, etc). We recognize this is a specific request, but please humor our dress code preference and celebrate with us your choice of dark neutral colors. Feel free to reach out for clarification! PS- A white dress shirt is perfectly acceptable for the men.
One of the cool things about choosing to have a small wedding is that it will allow us to take group pictures, not just with our families, but with everyone present! Since we have in mind to coordinate a ginormous group shot, we would love to avoid having any extraneous loud colors. (Have you seen those wedding photos where your eye keeps getting distracted by the guest wearing the way too bold and loud patterned orange dress in the corner? That's what we want to avoid). We recognize our specificity here, but this is one of Sarah's BIGGEST wedding pet peeves, so thank you in advance for gracing us in your favorite dark neutral. Thank you!!
FLAT! The entire wedding will be in unfinished and unpaved areas. Ladies- please preserve your ankles and your sanity by wearing your cutest flats (or stable wedges if you’re feeling a bit dangerous). 😉
The ranch is located in the mountains where there is **no cell reception** for any network. If you input the address into your GPS before you lose reception, it will still direct you to the address after you're out of signal. Additionally, you could download the area on Google maps ahead of time. Once you've reached the Redwood Gulch stop sign, the driveway is half a mile up the road. Be aware that the GPS for the address is shy of the entrance by about 200 yards. Keep driving, we will have enough signs out on the road by the house to make sure that you can't miss it!
We will have enough parking on the property IF you help us out by carpooling. The Kauk family property is only accessibly by a curvy mountain road that does not have shoulders for parking, and therefore we need to fit ALL the guest cars on the property, and not on the street. Please help us out by carpooling! We plan to keep a tally of cars arriving for the wedding, so kindly inform us if you are able to carpool with other guests.
Yes, you will have plenty of scrumptious options to enjoy.
