We’ve made some BIG changes, which we’re excited to share. Due to Michigan’s restrictions and the precautions that Boatwerks (our original venue) was having to put in place to adhere to the state’s guidelines, it ultimately got to the point where we could no longer envision our wedding day playing out the way we originally hoped. So with that, we decided to jump across state lines and bring it back to a familiar place, The Steam Plant, in Nick’s hometown of Dayton, Ohio. We look forward to celebrating with you on July 30th. Thank you so much to those who have reached out over the past year to offer support, positive thoughts, and hopeful wishes! Now, to love, health and no more delays!

We found love on a dating app, well... 2 dating apps, actually. Tinder was the first connection. A few witty one-liners led to some deep conversations and debate around all of the most pressing topics: best Chicago pizza, Big10 football, and the Chicago tech start-up scene in which they both worked. Then a first meet up was set! Nick gave Sarah his number and said she should come grab a drink at Benchmark, a popular Old Town bar, where he was posted up with his brother. Sarah moved the conversation from the app to a text message saying “we’ll see you at Benchmark soon!” Only the number Nick provided was 1 digit off, he never received the text and they never met up. THE END Just kidding. Fast forward a few weeks later when by the grace of the (dating app) gods Nick and Sarah matched again. This time on a new dating app called Hinge. The competitive advantage of this dating app is that your match must have a mutual friend and the girl must start the conversation with, “why the hell did you stand me up at Benchmark last month?” Nick was apologetic after discovering the fumbled handoff with his wrong number. He was determined to make up for it by taking her on a real first date - set on December 5th, 2014 at a bar conveniently behind Sarah’s house, so if things went awry, she could bail and pretend like it never happened. Fortunately for both of them they had an instant connection and it was the first of many dates. Sarah knew she was in love 7 months later when she officially met Nick’s friends and family back in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio for his friend Patrick’s wedding. While they can be construed as shallow on the surface, we’re forever grateful for the launch of the modern day dating apps. Without their help and a second chance from Sarah we wouldn’t be celebrating this beautiful wedding on August 1, 2020 in Holland, Michigan with our best friends and family!
