where to stay

The Wedding Website of sarah sager and walker augustyniak
Below are our recommendations for where to stay while you're with us in Louisville! Though we have a room block at the historic downtown Seelbach hotel, we've included other wonderful hotels that may better lend themselves to the kind of trip you'd like to have.

Hotel

Seelbach Hotel

412 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Louisville, KY 40202

The iconic Seelbach hotel has played host to US presidents, legendary artists, and Prohibition mobsters like Al Capone. It's also home to The Rathskellar, the world's only surviving Rookwood Pottery room – a favorite haunt of The Great Gatsby author F. Scott Fitzgerald. Special rates are available to our guests from October 20-22 - $209/night for a queen bedroom and $219/night for a king or double room. In order to make use of these rates, you will need to book over the phone and let the desk know you're with the Sager/Augustyniak wedding.

Hotel

The Bellwether

1300 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40204

The Bellwether is a super sweet micro-hotel that opened last year. The hotel's building, which formerly housed a police station (1907) and a phone switching station (1917), is located in Louisville's eclectic Highlands neighborhood, one of the few genuinely walkable communities in the area. Strolling around the area, you'll see many charming, older homes and long-time local businesses.

Hotel

Myriad Hotel

900 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY 40204
 5026327931

Though at the time of writing this the Myriad Hotel has not yet opened, they are accepting reservations for dates on or after August 1. The hotel boasts a killer location, a wonderful restaurant (Paseo), and what looks like a beautiful pool. The Myriad is located on Baxter Avenue, near to downtown and walking distance to a number of breweries, bars, restaurants, and local shopping.

Hotel

Hotel Genevieve

730 East Market Street, Louisville, KY 40202

Hotel Genevieve opened this year right in the middle of NuLu. Their rooftop provides a lovely view of the Louisville skyline and its proximity to cafes and local boutiques makes it easy to poke around. The hotel's in-house restaurant is run by Chef Ashleigh Shanti, a Beard Foundation finalist, serving food sitting at the intersection of French and Black Appalachian cuisine.

Travel Note

The Neighborhood Low-Down

Are you planning on booking an AirBNB for the trip? There are a lot of options when it comes to what neighborhood to look in, and the right answer depends entirely on what kind of weekend you want to have. Ultimately, finding somewhere within the ring of I-264 will put you a suitable Uber ride away from the venue, though I think the areas right around I-65 and I-64 are ideal! See below for some specific neighborhood info.

Travel Note

Old Louisville

For the most convenience, you might prefer to stay in Old Louisville, which shares a neighborhood with our venue. Old Louisville is an historic neighborhood, full to the brim of old, brick Victorians. It's home to both longtime residents and many students from the nearby University of Louisville. It's an utterly charming place, situated right on the cusp of downtown. Given this, please bear in mind that it is an urban environment.

Travel Note

NuLu

If you're looking to do some downtown living and exploration, NuLu would be a great option. It's located on the east end of Market street and is home to a fair amount of restaurants, two great coffee shops, a brewery, boutiques, and a couple of art galleries. This is a busy neighborhood with a bustling nightlife, so if you're looking for a *lot* of peace and quiet, this may not be for you.

Travel Note

The Highlands

The Highlands may well be Louisville's most charming neighborhood. It contains multitudes - old apartment buildings co-exist next to magnificent old mansions, all alongside the Olmstead designed Cherokee Park. Bardstown Road acts as the main thoroughfare and is the de facto small business district, home to all manners of thrift shops, record stores, and restaurants. The Highlands is also, by far, one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city.

Travel Note

Germantown & Schnitzelburg

Walker and I live on the cusp of Germantown and Schnitzelburg, where many of our friends also reside. Both neighborhoods are predominantly older shotgun homes and despite being interspersed with many great bars and restaurants, is a pretty quiet place to stay. If you're looking to rent a sweet little house and walk on down to the corner bar, this is the place to do it. If you stay here, we personally recommend checking out Hauck's!
