It’s not just an access point to the beach, but a full beach park with outdoor showers, changing rooms, restrooms and a variety of lounging options. Chairs and umbrella rentals available on the beach. Coligny also has swings and wooden chairs under shaded gazebos available to anyone who needs to rest their feet. This beach is wheelchair accessible with matting leading down to the water. Lifeguards on duty in season. And yes, Coligny even offers free Wifi. Beachgoers can use their phone or tablet to upload any special pictures they take with their friends or family. You can find the access to the beach at Coligny Circle, where North Forest Beach Dr., South Forest Beach Dr. and Pope Ave. meet. And just across the street from the beach, at 1 North Forest Beach Dr., you’ll find all the restaurants and shops you need at Coligny Plaza. All of the shops are beach-goer-friendly. There are several restaurants that have a little bit of everything for kids and their parents.
We highly recommend renting bikes while on the island! There are over 60 miles of bike trails as well as the beach front to ride on. One of the best ways to experience the beauty of Hilton Head is by riding a bike on one of the many trails and the beach on the island! It’s fun way to spend the day with your family as you explore this wonderful area of South Carolina.
Slip into a time long past and catch a glimpse of how the Lowcountry’s sea Islands looked and felt before bridges and causeways opened them up to development. Nestled between Savannah and Hilton Head and still only accessible by boat, Daufuskie Island is a remote retreat from modern life. Indeed, many of Daufuskie Island’s current residents make their living oystering and fishing to this day. This lovely Island also served as the setting for The Water Is Wide, Pat Conroy’s haunting and powerful tale of a place the world forgot. This is a great place for beachcombing, biking, and fossil hunting!
Soak in all of the natural beauty the island has to offer by jumping on a kayak and heading out on the waters. Whether you’re looking for some family fun on a guided tour or a rental to take out on your own, there’s no better way to explore the outdoors than to kayak on Hilton Head. Great for seeing dolphins, manatees, and birds! (Sarah's favorite)
Check out different website with a tour of this island that is nestled south of Hilton Head in the channel that goes across to Defauskie Island.
